Emily Bills, Ph.D., adjunct faculty member in architecture, Department of Art, reports: “Last Fall 2009 my class visited a number of canonical architectural and urban sites as part of our course ‘The History of Los Angeles Architecture.’ Some of our experiences, conversations, and discoveries are documented on a course blog and we would like to invite you to visit the site. The blog serves primarily as a kind of “travel log,” a place for students to share their responses to the built environment with their fellow classmates and the broader Art Department community. The entries are developed from oral presentations students delivered at the building/urban site, and thus the blog also reflects student research gathered from guided tours, class readings, and individual research. Finally, the blog format encouraged students to strengthen their close editing and writing skills. As we discussed in class, blog entries are public records of student work and should be treated in the most professional manner.

We hope you will take a few minutes to browse through this document of our travels last semester. We also encourage you to share your comments at the end of the postings.”
