We want to reassure our alumni that we are thinking of you and all members of the Chapman Family during this challenging time. Although facilities on the physical campus are closed, our Alumni Engagement team is working remotely. They look forward to being in touch. To contact them, call the Office of Alumni Engagement at (714) 997-6681 or send an email to email@example.com. Rest assured, we will resume our regular activity with our alumni when we have full confidence that it is safe and prudent to do so.
Also available remotely are the members of our Career and Professional Development team. Remember, Chapman is your career connection for life.
As this situation progresses around the world, please stay safe and know that your Chapman Family is here for you.
Planning Our Return to Campus
At the present time, Chapman University is observing Governor Gavin Newsom’s “stay-at-home” order. Only “essential services” remain on campus, while all instruction and most campus services are operating on a remote basis.
On May 8, President Daniele C. Struppa announced that planning has begun in earnest to resume teaching, learning, working and living on campus. The target date for this return is the fall semester, 2020. This is, of course, to be arranged in conjunction with state and local official guidelines. The plan for “CU Safely Back” is being fully developed by 14 strategically-comprised task forces including groups focusing on student life, housing, health and safety, facilities, communication, faculty preparation, technology and other critical areas.
The overarching goal across all task force work is to assess the risk and establish a phased re-opening plan that takes into account five established mitigation strategies:
- Physical Distancing
- Symptom Monitoring
- Public Health Interventions
- Face Coverings
- Sanitation Protocol
More information about “CU Safely Back” can be found here.
Alumni Resources and Services
You may be working from home, facing career challenges, managing the stress of isolation or looking for ways to entertain your little ones. We want to provide a few virtual resources to help, no matter where you are.
After consulting our deans, faculty, administration, and more importantly, our graduating seniors and families, Chapman senior leadership has decided to reschedule the 2020 Commencement. We believe Commencement is more important than ever and are committed to providing this milestone event for our graduating students and their families.
Our goal is to provide the full Commencement experience our graduates have earned. We will continue to update the Commencement website as we finalize details.
A Virtual Celebration for the our 2020 Graduates
Although Commencement will be rescheduled for a later date, we want to celebrate all of our 2020 graduates, at every level, on the day that would have been their Commencement, May 22, 5:00 p.m. PDT. All friends, family members and alumni are welcome to join this celebration! Read all the details here.
