Women’s History Month Events Planned at Chapman University

International Women’s Day

The entire campus is welcome to participate in an International Women’s Day Celebration on Thursday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Attallah Piazza. Hosted by the Advisory Group on the Status of Women, the event will include drop-in mentoring for students seeking advice on careers, resume preparation, interviewing techniques and gender issues.

The day will include several information booths staffed by campus clubs and community organizations lending their expertise and resources on a variety of issues. The event is free to attend.  Staff and faculty members interested in volunteering as a mentor are invited to email Alisa Driscoll at driscoll@chapman.edu.

Leadership Forum

“Collective Lights of Leadership” is the theme for the Second Annual Women’s Leadership Forum presented by the Attallah College of Educational Studies on Saturday, March 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Among the speakers will be Betty Uribe, executive vice president of California Bank & Trust and author of #Values: The Secret to Top Level Performance in Business and Life.

Other presenters include leaders from a variety of fields sharing their insights on collaboration, mentorship and careers. Programming will include a panel discussion with Q&A, breakout sessions with industry leaders and a special session for members of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators.

Registration is $15 to $30. Breakfast and lunch are included. To register or learn more, visit the Attallah College event page.

Womxn’s Herstory Month

A panel discussion titled “I Am Not a Feminist But: Intersectionality 101” will kick off Womxn’s Herstory Month at the Cross-Cultural Center. The discussion will be on Thursday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in Argyros Forum, Room 304. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
